Děti noci (2008)

Plot

Ofka drifts through a strange haze, refusing to grow up while her classmates move on. Childhood, once a comfort, now feels like a cage. She works nights at her brother-in-law Eda's shop, surrounded by the broken lives of customers and old friends who only come alive after dark. Sometimes she joins drinkers at the Vltava harbor, roams the streets with Ubre—an oddball who fishes treasures from trash and loves her hopelessly—and dodges Míra, whose love has faded. Deep down, she knows she must eventually leave her childhood behind, step beyond her neighborhood, and finally do something with her life.
