High Society (2017)

Episode Overview

In the UK, nitrous oxide has become the most widely used drug, now ranking as the second most popular overall. Following a few tragic deaths linked to its use, media attention surged, often exaggerating the associated risks. In reaction, the government has added nitrous oxide to the Psychoactive Substances Act, a law designed to prohibit the sale of any substance that alters mental states, excluding alcohol, cigarettes, and coffee. As a result, those caught selling nitrous can face up to seven years in prison. We investigate the implications of an overnight ban on this beloved substance and how dealers will adapt to keep it available.
