Episode Overview

Set in 1977 on the Promenade des Anglais, a fierce rivalry unfolds between two casinos: the historic Palais de la Méditerranée, inherited by Renée Le Roux after her husband's death, and the glitzy Ruhl, operated by a dubious family tied to the Italian Mafia and local mayor Jacques Médecin, aiming to dominate the gambling scene. Troubled lawyer Maurice Agnelet persuades his mistress, 29-year-old Agnès, the youngest of the Le Roux siblings, to sell her shares in the family casino for 3 million francs, ensuring her mother’s loss. Tragically, four months later, Agnès mysteriously vanishes, and her body is never discovered.
